Context

A Moroccan higher education institution sought to create informational video content addressing gaps in academic guidance for prospective students. As Content Manager, I coordinated production of an animated explainer video series covering study tips, academic orientation, and college majors with their career prospects. The series targeted high school students and college students seeking clarity on educational pathways. Over a 3-month collaboration in Q2-Q3 2021, I managed the end-to-end production workflow, serving as the liaison between the institution and my freelance production team while developing scripts, overseeing quality assurance, and ensuring timely delivery of all content.

Methodology

I employed a structured three-phase production workflow with quality gates at each stage: script development and approval, voice recording and review, and motion design with final validation. This sequential approach with client approval checkpoints ensured content accuracy and alignment with the institution’s messaging before progressing to the next phase. I coordinated work across a distributed freelance team using Trello with Kanban boards for task management, Google Docs for collaborative script development, and email/WhatsApp for real-time communication and status updates.

Process

Each video began with a kickoff meeting between my manager, the client, and myself to discuss project scope and content direction. After my manager validated topics with the client, I received content assignments and began script development based on approved themes.

I drafted scripts and submitted them to the client for review and approval. Once validated, I coordinated with the voiceover artist for audio recording. After receiving the MP3 file, I conducted quality assurance listening for errors or necessary retakes before sending the recording to the client for final approval.

With both script and approved voiceover in hand, I briefed the motion designer and provided all necessary assets. The designer created the animated video, which I reviewed internally before submitting to the client for final validation. Upon client approval, I delivered the completed video.

Throughout production, I maintained regular communication with my freelance team regarding progress updates, timeline adjustments, resource needs, and any blockers. I tracked all deliverables and deadlines through Trello, ensuring smooth handoffs between production phases and on-time completion of each video in the series.

The completed series was published on YouTube, accumulating over 260,000 combined views with audience feedback ranging from appreciation for clarity to engagement with the content’s practical guidance.
